 Our editors are seeking the artfulness of truth and the human condition. Creative Non-Fiction editors do not shy from essays, memoir, or short stories that bring the reader to an inevitable truth of the individual, of the art form, and of the world.

 Guidelines: 

  • Make sure to include the title of your piece with every submission
  • Prose: 5,000 words or less
  • Unpublished work only 

We do accept simultaneous submissions, though if your work is submitted elsewhere please add a note to your submission to inform us.

 Blind Submissions: Out of fairness to all writers, The Phoenix requires that your name and contact information not be placed on any of the uploaded files of your submissions.
The Phoenix  gladly allows for you to submit your work to more than one genre.
Rights: The Phoenix acquires first-time print and digital publication rights. Rights revert back to writers upon publication.
